Posted By MPL A "quick" general question (if that's possible).
Could somebody advise me the minimum First Aid cover required for an event (music festival) which has been assesed by BAA agency as "None/Low Risk". i realise there may be key elements missing from my statement so feel free to tease me for asking in such a newbie fashion.

In simple terms, and knowing nothing of the event, you should initially rely on HSE guidance where for low risk activity you should conduct a Risk Assessment and look at the numbers expected e.g.fewer than 50, then at least one Appointed Person and between 50-100 at least one first aider. And apply the numbers in multiples.
What you need to remember is that you ensure there is sufficient first aid cover for each stage of the event, that is preparation, the main event and clearance.
Does your Local Authority not have an Events Guide you can use for local guidance?

Posted By MPL Andrew,
Thanks for the response. i am awaiting delivery of the specific HSE Guide, trying to get a jump on it in here in case i need to sort things out in a hurry. We all know how difficult that can be. The event has been assessed by SJAB and graded "Noe/low" as far as risk goes.
The plan is for approx 400 persons on site and the initial response from SJ regarding cover was for "A fully equipped ambulance and 6 staff". I thought that this "may" have been overkill was all, especially given the cost quoted.
Don't get me wrong here, the event will be covered, and then some by fully trained staff, but the cost of an ambulance is staggering...

Posted By steve e ashton If you google hsg 195, you may find a cope (?copyright legitimate? I'm not sure but its in the public domain...) Page 131 and onwards provide a useful means of assessing your requirements.
The figures quoted in the earlier response at 1 ap / fa per 50/100 are drawn from HSE guidance for workplaces and would not normally be applicable to public events.
