It's getting there, but not absolutely.
If the hospital stay is 24hrs or more, then it's caught by S1.7(c). If the casualty has developed an infection such as tetanus then it's caught by S1.10 as the bacteria in a dog's mouth are "biological agents". If however the casualty is only in for a few hours and the bite isn't infected, it's not on the "major injury" list and so far it sounds like they haven't been off for 3 days.

If she is in hospital for over 24 hours, or cannot undertake her normal working duties for more than 3 days (consecutive) then yes it is a RIDDOR....
...IF the animal bite arised "out of or in connection with work".
That is the important bit which you need to make a call on and creates much discussion on such a forum! Was the person working at the time? If yes then according to the spirit of the regulations, report in my opinion. (wait for it........"Yes but was contact with the animal work related?" blah blah)
Interestingly "injured by an animal" is a category on the f2508.
Best Regards,
Ian

Ian and Dave have it correct - a dog bite can be riddor if it's work related and hits one of the criteria over 3 day, 24 hours in hospital etc.
If you look at RIDDOR stats animal related incidents are listed. It forms part of the risk assessments for Post men and women for example.

"It forms part of the risk assessments for Post men and women for example"
That would be
"Non-gender-specific Mail Distribution Technicians"
