Hi there

What standard of lighting should I be looking for in a stand alone container to be used for storing flammable liquids? Some of the products are cleaning materials and some are stage products such as flame gel. Any help on where to look for standards of lighting would be gratefully received.

You will need to make a risk assessment under the Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmospheres Regs - this will help classify the likely atmosphere and ignition potential.

A useful guide is BS60079 PArt 10 or IP guide Part 15

Depending upon what you do in the store will then also help determine if you have a Zone 0, 1 or 2 atmosphere and then hence what type of lighting standard you will require.

This also depends upon flash points etc of the stroed products, the degree and availability of ventilation in the area etc.

It will probably be a Zone 2, if only used to store sealed containers of flammable liquids.
