Posted By Dan D Hi, I have just arrived in this country and done some prelim HS training. Just want to confirm that working on a work platform without a harness is acceptable up to 4m (2+2 rule). We have some work to do on a roof about 4m high and want to use a work platform as this will be the safest method. Are there any types that anyone can put up? I would be trying to avoid getting a scaffolder in. Thanks for your help. Any links or other info would be appreciated.

Get yourself up to date with the work at height regs as there are no height parameters given as 'at height' means at any height!

Posted By Dave Wilson The WAH regs are quite specific and you should look at the following to get a flavour of whats required in the UK http://hse.gov.uk/falls/index.htm

Posted By lisa mccaulder Hi Dan
the 4 metres you are talking about probably comes from the old SG4 for scaffolders - so I do know what you mean. There also was a 2 m rule in HSg150 that went with the work at height regulations. Now its risk assessment all the way but there are some specialist considerations for scaffold platform as opposed to towers and youngermans boards etc
If you tell me what type of working platform you are talking about I will give you some practical help whether it be PASMA or HSE guidance or scaffolding standards etc.
Lis..

Posted By Ron Hunter Have a look at 'easi-dec' and the like. (Other light-weight access platform systems are available.) Still I think a necessity for you and your people to undergo training on erection/dismantling and use.
