Posted By andrew morris Normally post & respond on here for work - but got a personal one this time.
I want cavity insulation but power company approved supplier says elf & safety have banned working over conservatories (wasn't in the mood for a fight so let him carry on).
Does anyone know of a way of working over a conservatory to install insulation - we can't have scaffold at both sides as we're semidetached & us and neighbours have extension surrounding the conservatory...
Can scaffold "lean" against the house from one tower? If so, anyone any idea of cost?

Posted By Tabs Have you considered lifting out a couple or four panes of glass from the conservatory to allow the scaffold to be built properly?
If not that, you are into cherry picker country I think.

Posted By Ron Hunter There are road-towable boom lifts e.g. "Nifty" models. Width is 1.5 metres, weight 595kg carrying capacity 120kg. Contractor duty to avoid dropping/ falling objects remains. The "preferred" method of doing this task from a ladder using a fairly weighty masonry drill would be questionable too?

Posted By Robert K Lewis When I wuz a lad they tied ropes to each foot and threw them over the ridge. You could hang him upside down to do the job :-) - Only joking.
The glass removal is probably the best way in the short term. In the long term use triple wall polycarbonate sheet to replace the roof glazing. The issue then goes away. In fact most modern conservatories are built with these roof panels unless otherwise specified.

Posted By patrick carr Hi, Have you seen the conservatory ladder? It is a articulated ladder, for the pitch with a spreading bar at the top to span the purlins, you can also get a working platform that affixes to the top with handrails added. I am trying to find the brochure for the address, it was contained in the March or April editions of SHP, it was all about access solutions and products. regards Paddy
