Dear All
Can anyone advise what type of face mask filter should be worn when performing short duration brazing of copper pipe (not in confined spaces)?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Paul - I suggest that you call your supplier, but you will need to give them more info about the task.

One point that I find is often overlooked when selecting respiratory protection is that a half-mask does not provide any protection against exposure of the facial skin to the airborne contaminant. If the process results in airborne presence of a sensitiser then you may need to consider protection of the face, scalp, etc. The average supplier of respiratory equipment may not include this in their evaluation of the correct form of RPE.
I have had cases where this has not been done with the result that workers suffered airborne allergic contact dermatitis.

You will need the msds for the filler metal and the flux used.
There are many different fluxes available/used, many feature various potassium salts, fluorides and boric acid.
I only use full-face rpe with supplied air.
The employer thought a nose/mouth simple mask would do, but retreated when faced with the msds.
