Posted By RBW100 Can I ask how other are dealing with the problem of offloading from trailers where loading docks are not available? I have a problem with unloading non-curtainsider trailers. The first pallets can be reached by FLT and so are ok. The second layer of pallets can not be reached by the FLT, even with fork extensions. Pulling the pallets is a no-no according to the HSE. Would like to hear from anyone who had this problem and how they got round it. Rob

Posted By David Bannister Hi RBW100, is it possible to get your supplier to send vehicles that you can work with? You are the customer and if they cannot deliver in a way you can accept then you have a purchasing decision to make.

Posted By Renny Thomson You can get portable loading docks that can be moved into place as required. This will allow a FLT to access the vehicle/container. The supplier/haulier can be informed thqat there is no loading dock, so they have to be able to present the load to the back doors for off-loading by FLT. A pallet truck can be used to move the pallets to the rear. The vehicle can be fitted with tracking and slides to allow rear unloading.
