Hi, please could someone help..

Is it permissable to attach a man basket to an overhead crane and use to lift a personnel where the use of scaffold would be inappropriate?.

What would be the requirements under LOLER?.

Any help greatly received.

Hi Jess,

There have been a few discussions on this fairly recently, if you search the forums you will find more in detail.

However, my simple understanding is that it is permitted as long as the equipment is tested in accordance with the requirements of LOLER which is at least 6 monthly - but check.

Have a look at LOLER Reg 5 for guidance.

Regards,

S

Jess - remember PUWER - correct equipment for the task - fit for purpose - certification, checks etc.
Remember the risk assessment, lift plan and rescue plan. The rescue plan needs to be tested as well.
