Can anyone help with a formula or rule of thumb guide for flex/bow in a running line and the distance of ties.

Do you mean Tie Bars? If so, 3 tie bars two metres apart a minimum of 5 as a temporary measures until remedial work can be carried out is the standard on NR infrastructure - I have been informed.

Raymond,
What I was trying to describe was intermediate anchor points the ones between the main anchors that reduce the deflection in the line.
Sorry for any confusion but this is one of those wake you up at three in the morning things, which is why I wrote the post so early.
Any help with this is genuinely gratefully received.

Robert,
You may get some guidance from the Work at Height Safety Association - www.wahsa.org.uk
They issue technical guidance notes- number 6 may be of use.
Regards
Richard
