As part of our LEAN initiatives, I have been asked whether we can relocate our spray booth in the factory.
I am aware that the risk assessment will need a review but in terms of the move are there any specifics that I need to consider?
We do not operate under a permit from the EA for the emissions from the paint stack.
If adequately controlled can we manage the move ourselves or would it be a subcontractor jobbie?
Also we will need an additional thorough examination by a compentent person on the booth before we use it again in the new location?
Any advice would be welcomed.

get yourself a copy of HSG258 which is the new (or revised) guidance for LEV systems. Your spray booth will fall under LEV regs as I'm sure you already know.
There's no reason that you can't move the system yourself provided you are OK with assbling ducting, roof work, holes in the wall etc etc and all the associated risks that come with that.
What you are intending to do, is effectively dismantle an LEV system and re-assemble it elsewhere so you will need it re-commisioning. Any extra ducting or bends etc may seriously effect the performance of the system so be careful how it is amended. Also, the proximity any roller doors, windows etc may also have andn adverse effect.
The commisioning process will establish wether or not the LEV system is providing the coreect extraction and face velocities of air.
movement, and will give you a bench mark for future inspections.
I would expect that some form of RPE is also required?

Thanks for the reply.
I think I will involve the system designer in the move as like you say, any modifications to the flue work may affect the efficiency of the draw!
I'll get hold of a copy of that guidance, have a lot of LEV's on site and this will no doubt come in very handy.
Yes, oxygen fed face mask in use as part of our control measures for the activity.

Hi all
Can anyone recommend a competent contractor to assist us with the dismantle of the existing 2 bends, silencer, fan and ductwork (work at height) and relocation/installation.
we are able to deal with the internal works on the spray booth
we are based in Herts and need to progress asap
