I am looking for information on the hazards associated with removal of old fibre glass insulation but am having a difficult time finding anything! Can anyone help?

In general terms the removal of old fibreglass insulation should pose no greater risk than installing new insulation. Points worth mentioning are that the insulation will probably be more friable than new and will break up easily and produce more dust and airborne fibres. Try and find out what type of insulation it is, normal rockwool will be Ok, but if it is industrial high temperature material such as ceramic fibre it may well be a type 2 carcinogen and should only be removed by specialists. Another point worth checking is that early fibre glass pipe insulation sometimes had an inner lining of asbestos paper and again should be removed by the experts. Hope this has been of some help

Also consider zoonoses as there may be rodents nesting in the insulation. We lost 3 travel bags in our attic over a 3 week period one year due to mice eating the fabric bags...
