Posted By grahams Does anyone know of any specific training for driving people with a disability. Be it a physical disability or in a wheelchair or a mental impairment. Risk assessments are carried out of the individuals and of the 'load' etc. Along with training moving & handling, first aid etc. but I'm looking for some training for staff in these specific areas. My thoughts are training that say a NHS Patient Transport Collection/Drop Off's person were given etc.
Any thought/ideas would be of use.

I have used the MiDAS scheme before. MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
You can search the internet for your local provider. Hope this helps.
Good luck.
