Heya, any advice on what sort of topics would be most beneficial (& interesting if possible) in a ladder safety toolbox talk would be great. At the moment i may be looking at this from a not so practical angle and I would like to keep the interest of the attendees.

I was thinking of the following topics in powerpoint presentation - not everything but a good few, with pictures, video if I can find anything etc).

Any advice on what has worked for you would be appreciated. Or if I am looking at this from the wrong angle.

Work at Height Regulations (Not in great depth, but just why this is so important other than the injury factor)
-Hazards and risks
-Work at height assessments
-Classes and types of ladders
-Poor practice during ladder and step ladder use
-Safe working loads
-Ladder safety accessories
-Safe use of ladders and step ladders
-Position, securing, climbing
-Transportation and storage
-Inspection criteria and techniques
-Practical inspection
-Ladder usage at our company
-Current on site procedures for on site ladder use
-General comments, queries and concerns

Please let me know if this sounds like too much, too boring, and why, how, what you would do better.

I am no expert on this, so I don't want to come across patronising - the attendees will def know more than me as far as usage, I just want to give our guys something to think about - this is just a talk included in their regular toolbox talks.

Only constructive comments pretty please (I am not looking for a handout or anything like that), no snide remarks - this is a serious question.

Thank you kindly folks, Zander

There are some useful resources on the HSE website. The 'Using Ladders Safely' page includes a toolbox talk and a video in the Downloads section which you might find useful.

Zander,

If you contact The Ladder Association website then it should help you with your presentation.
