Posted By Crim I had the pleasure today of driving south on the M6 toll road. What a good experience that was as the traffic was extremely light, as compered with the M6 I had just left. A good road surface with very few HGV's and not a lot of private cars.
My only other trip along that road was a few weeks earlier when the toll collector told me that it was a private road and you can drive as fast as you want.
Is this true as I did notice most, if not all cars were travelling faster than 90mph?

Posted By Al.. From http://www.m6toll.co.uk/faqs/default.aspQ: What is the speed limit? A: The M6 Toll is regulated and policed just like any other motorway and the speed limit is 70mph. Q: Are there any fixed speed cameras on the M6 Toll? A: No, but the motorway is regularly patrolled by both marked and unmarked police vehicles.

Posted By Bob Shillabeer The M6 toll road is not a private road, it is part of the British road system and is therefore covered by British traffic law. The tolls are to pay the builder for the completion of the road and its ongoing maintenenace the same applies to the Severn River Crossing Company which maintains the both bridges and the road surface etc on behalf of the UK Government. Please get away from thinking that toll road are priovately owned.

Posted By Crim I now stand (drive) corrected. Came home on the M6 Toll road today, again what a marvelous road. I think somebody should tell all the other drivers to keep their speed down!
