Mornin' All,

Quick Q, My site has a mobile crane that has recently been serviced, certified etc and is now serviceable with the exception that it needs the weight spreader pads to go under the extended feet when in operation.

Does anyone know what they're proper name is and where I can start to look for some Please?

Thanks,

Jim

Your right with spreader mats or pads , The best place is the crane manufacturer- supplier we had the same issue recently with mats for a concrete pump . We just went for a mat that exceeded the max KGm2 per jack to cover most situations and ground conditions.

Hello Exdeeps,
Contact Howard at Nylacast, they supply polypenco ground pads to most of the UK crane hire companies up to 200T, if you tell him what model crane you have he will suggest what size pad will suffice from what he has supplied in the past. www.nylacast.com

Don't forget that the standard pads are also linked to a minimum ground bearing capacity (GBC). You will need additional spreader mats designed/used if your GBC is less than the stated design parameters. I would always ensure that you either get a design engineer to calculate the mat size or ensure the GBC is provided at the time of hire.

If you are using the crane in a range of locations on site do not forget to check all locations. You may need a crane permit to specify the approved standing points.

Hello

On a similar vein can anyone give me the name of a company that can carry out some site investigation work to ascertain the GBC of sites in Bath and Gloucester.

E-mail me direct if possible and mind the AUG's.

Thanks in advance.
