Posted By Flic You can see the quantity of fume in the video, and this is a welding process for copper, the fume from which is more harmful than that from most steels. (WEL for copper fume is 0.2 mg m^-3, WEL for iron fume is 5 mg m^-3. Copper is also one of the elements that can cause metal fume fever). You therefore have to ensure that the people do not inhale the fume. The reaction is pretty brisk so setting it up needs some skill and forethought, and clearly initiating the reaction requires some skill! The starter powder will clearly require special storage arrangements. Flic
