I have a client that runs a couple of shops where the fire exit doors have to open inwards. At the momment they do not have any easy way of opening in the event of a fire. Does anyone know where I can get a "push bar" type opening device that actually pulls to open. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Can you be more specific about why they must open inwards? My reading of the building regs is that is that escape doors should open in the direction of travel but having said that, the risk decision must involve the occupancy levels (and competency of) the people using the escape route.

Thanks Scottie

The doors need to open inwards as if they open outwards (direction of travel) then they will block the actual exit route, both for those getting out of "my" building and anyone trying to leave nearby buildings. There is a very narrow walkway at the back of the shops and the door would block this.

If the door is only for use in emergency but needs to be secured a break tube lock could be fitted (i.e. break the glass tube and door is released and swings inward).

Seen them used in simular circumstances.

Unfortunately these doors are also used as "goods in" doors so need to be able to be opened without breaking a glass or plastic tube. I have seen openers that can be pulled instead of pushed, just can't remember where or find them on the net. any help still appreciated.
