Posted By stephen d clarke Hi, I think the occasional use of what are called non-integrated work platforms is allowed in the UK for short duration tasks, but as they do not provide as high a level of safety as purpose built access equipment their use is not encouraged. Examples of occasional use e.g. non-routine maintenance tasks; replacement of light fittings if not part of periodic maintenance; tasks that otherwise would be carried out less safely using a ladder; to check condition of roof lights. But periodic maintenance, order picking, routine maintenance, transfer of goods or people would not be classed as occasional use.
