Posted By Wayne Schofield I have been asked a question to reduce the height of welding screens within our workplace and would some clarification from my peers.
I have argued that the height should be maintained at around 180cm to allow for distances away from the screen, for both welder and the passer-by.
However, an issue is being pursued were the height of the screen is reduced to track the activities of the staff working.
Additionally, I would like to increase the gap from the floor to the bottom edge of the welding screen / curtain to increase the view of either side whilst passing through the screen curtains and to help identify if anyone has collapsed or fallen within the welding areas. This has been identified as part of the risk assessment for the area along with other areas.
If you could advise on a suitable height for a welding bay 4 metres by 5 metres with a walkway distance of maximum 2 metres and the maximum height from floor to the bottom of the screen I would be truly grateful.

Posted By Alan Nicholls You can purchase see through welding curtain for UV Radiation and Blue light.
For a standard welding curtain approx 1900mm high with 300mm floor clearance. Depends on what type of welding how often, what type of floor, reflective or not etc.
Hope this is of assistance Regards Alan
