I don't see why questions concerning the Workplace(Health, Safety and Welfare) Regs shouldn't be asked on a H&S page! We're supposed to know these regs aren't we?

COSHH, I think you and I are lone voices on this one!
I agree totally - it is related to the workplace regs and there is health & safety.

Poor old Micheal Finnigan, Begin again? anyone?
My favourite was the choc-ice and coffee answer.
Has the original coffee in the thermos gone cold yet do you think?
Sorry everyone, just needed a little light relief after a particularly fraught day.

I think the question has been answered by some of the good readers .
But Safety System thanks for making my day possibly week maybe even year.
Some of the people I have met in senior positions this week would ask to see inside this thermos to confirm the statement.

Thermos must be rubbing their little hot/cold hands with the amount free of advertising they have had on this posting!

My first posting stated that this was not a health and safety issue management were trying to hide behind it rather than give their reasons. I also explained that the management should complete a risk assessment and share it with employees.
Was that not answering the question.

Policy is policy.
If the company say wear pink and blue spotted shirts as a condition of employment they can, similarly a well known hotel in London only employ male staff who are clean shaven.
The person who pays the pay bill decides what or how people act on site. (within the law)
If its policy why ask for a RA?
If a person wants to have a flask at work and it is not in accordance with company policy they can choose to work elsewhere.
Not a H&S issue, IMHO>
