Posted By SNS Hi,
The subject of Frequently Asked Questions comes around a lot (no surprise really).
Mods / IOSH, is it possible to have an FAQ forum to be populated and signposted for new subscribers?
Regards, S

Posted By Raymond Rapp I strongly second that. I am something of a Luddite, so not sure if it is possible, but a word association linked to previous threads would be a useful tool.

Posted By IOSH Moderator The Moderators have many talents, but web design is not in their portfolio!
There is to be a new web design sometime soon, and we have yet to see its capabilities. An FAQ forum may be possible.

Posted By Tony abc jprhdnMurphy Lets keep the debate going on all topics new and old. I too am tired of PAT testing questions but we cannot put these issues to bed, particularly as new guests may have different and opposing views.

Posted By Tom Loomes Hi forum users, The new forums will certainly give use the flexibility to signpost to any areas we designate for FAQs. We’d have to decide how to populate them – I’m sure they’d get plenty of use. You can find out more about our new forum features on the following thread - http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...ew&forum=1&thread=42171.Best regards, Tom Loomes Web Assistant

Posted By Dave Merchant FAQs only make sense if there's an agreed answer to the Q. In a (very) few cases there are, like someone asking "what's the HSE website address?", but 99% of the questions people ask on these forums are subject to case-specific or personal interpretation and change faster than the weather. You cannot for example answer "do I need a harness in a MEWP?" with boilerplate text unless it's several pages long and explains all the possible combinations and exceptions. Even then, 50% of the people reading it will disagree.

Posted By SNS Hi Tom (and other respondents and readers),
I was envisioning something for the signpostable questions such as those asking for copies of NEBOSH exams etc.
The forums are a tremendously useful resource and searching for specifics produces much guidance, a lot of it contradictory, but it does give ideas and directions on further sources for information.
Long may they continue :)
