did anyone read febs issue of Health & Safety at Work? more specifically - Page 29 - the Health & Safety Pay Survey 2008.. very interesting reading.

The big numbers look nice (even allowing for the SE weighting in the responses), but in the March issue, 63% of responders to the latest survey said they didn't believe their jobs were secure in 2009. The 2008 pay survey happened just at the edge of the cliff, so by the time it went to press a lot of the responders had probably already been made redundant (possibly including the 1% who said they were being paid too much!)
