Posted By Ben Hughes Hi all,
Does any body have a definition for dropped objects that they use in their organisation?
Im trying to create a training material for people within our organisation, but am finding it quite diffecult to exactly define.
Cheers, Ben

Posted By Robert Randall Hi Ben,
it's not Friday so I take it that this is a serious question?
A dropped odject is something that is dropped by whoever or whatever was holding it.
Seems very simple to me.

Posted By Ben Hughes Hi Rob,
Haha, it was a serious question.
I was more thinking about including in the definition all the classifications of dropped objects, such as slinging / rigging accidents, equipment falling from height, falling persons onto others etc

Posted By stephen d clarke Hi, North Sea Lifting (NSL) published a very good little pocket book "Falls and Falling Objects" described as a training package for industry. In their intro they define "A falling object - anything from a small nut or bolt to a heavy load suspended by a crane, could also be a person. Even the smallest or lightest object falling a short distance can cause unpleasant injuries if it has sharp edges. A heavy load falling a short distance can often cause fatal injuries." Steve

Posted By Ben Hughes Hi Stephen,
Thanks very much, that sounds good to me. I'll just tweak it alittle for my organisation.
Best regards, Ben
