Posted By Peter Rees I'm looking at some advice/feedback on fire safety training that is to enable acceptance onto the IFE register of competent fire risk assessors....
I know the IFE give a list of providers, but has anyone used any of them?
My reason for wanting to do this is to provide evidence of competency in this area. I have years of experience, just need the relevant formal qual....

Posted By Bob Shillabeer Hi Peter,
The fire risk assessment required under the RR(FS) Order is really quite a simple task as it refers mostly to the safety of people. Other legislation looks at the fire safety of buildings. Fire safety has become a hot potatoe since the RRFSO came into being but it is quite simple really. There is no or very little change in the law regard fire safety in construction etc only in the management of the building as it affects peole. The main point of the RRFSO was to take the role of fire certfication from the fire authority and to cover all workplaces etc that were not cover under the previous law. The BSI have published a British Standard BS9999:2008 covering fire safety in design, management and use of buildings (a bit expensive) that covers the whole topic.
