Are handrails required for slopes in workplaces that padestrians will use?
Have read the WHS&W regs (Reg 12 (5)) and am still confused! Handrails are required on stairs for sure, but what about fairly steep slopes in workplaces?
Thanks, B

Would this come under the term 'safe access & egress'?

Without knowing the details of the "steep slopes" within the workplace in question, are these slopes used solely for pedestrians or as I would suspect, may be used for mechanical handling equipment as well?
If the latter is the case, the provision of a handrail could be beneficial - not just as an aid to pedestrians using the ramp, but to segregate pedestrians from forktrucks/ped. trucks etc.

Have you looked at Approved document M of the Building Regs?
