Posted By Safe System I know this is a bit generic but roughly how long should a standard toolbox last (in construction).. my understanding is around 15 minutes to ensure that attention is kept.. (i appreciate that more complex issues may need longer) your views please?

Posted By Daniel Riley Sometimes our toolbox talks last five minutes, sometimes they last 30 minutes. It really depends on the feedback. We try to use the TBT as a safety forum rather than a lecture. I try to keep the actual message fairly short because like you said keeping the attention is the key point. Once the TBT has been given I try I and get interaction from the guy's. The interaction is the most important part of it for me, getting employees talking about safety, not just listening to it helps improve behavioural safety. Hope this helps
