Esteemed colleagues,

Can anybody point me in the direction of guidance relating to the safe use of jetties in relation to passenger boats (such as on a lake or river) carrying about 100 passengers. I am looking specifically at safety in boarding and alighting.

I guess the basics would include such things as non - slip gantry, railings, competent persons to assist, safety lines for rescue etc, but anything you can offer would be of help without going overboard.

Thank you.

The Maritme and Coastguard Agency may be a good place to start:

Thanks for the quick response so far - Alan, I though I would get the 'overboard' bit in before some other wit tried it!
