Response to Intruder Alarm Activation & Personal Safety

We have a number of people on a call-out rota (priority given to those who live near the premises) who are required to attend in the event of the intruder alarm being activated after hours. I have been assured that people always go out to investigate in two's but I'm nevertheless worried about their personal safety should they interrupt intruders inside (or about to break into) the building. They have been advised not to approach or tackle anyone in that situation and to call the Police. Is there anything else we should be doing, eg contact the local Police for advice, etc? Many thanks.

John - we have a procedure that states anyone attending a call will drive round the building (with car doors locked)and look for signs of break in.
If there is obvious signs of intrusion - drive away from the building to a place of safety - call police - and monitor if possible.
If no signs of break in - wait for assistance and only if happy enter the building.
Do not get separated inside the building and do not try to stop anyone found in the building.
Any suspicious noise from inside the building - or lights on that should be off, or feeling vulnerable - get out and call police.
