Posted By prads Can anyone provide me with information regarding connection between hand gloves and Musculo skeletal disorders (MSDs). Does handgloves reduce MSDs or contribute MSDs? I am sure hand gloves provide more grip and a better grip would reduce the chances for MSDs. But, I am looking for some document I can read further about it. Please help. Regards, Prads

Posted By Kieran J Duignan Prads Unless you start by identifying sources of hazards and assessing risks associated with them, you'll be at risk of specificying gloves as a particular kind of control irrelevant to a particular risk. For example, in a case in which I served as an expert witness (and the employer ended up paying a six-figure sum in compensation), an ill-informred nurse recommended a foot stool to an employee who reported symptoms of pain in her cervical spine. Start with a good guide to MSDs such as 'Bodyspace', S Pheasant & C Haslegrave, CRC Press, 2003. Once you understand the nature of MSDs and the hazards involved in the tasks you are dealing with, the answer to your question will be self-evident.
