Posted By lewes Ever since ive been employed by our company weve had an old cable operated crane sitting in the corner of one of our sites.
I dont know to much about the history of the crane but we now want to start using it so are going to see about employing a driver and banksman and move it to another site.
I appreciate that it will need LOLER and PUWER cert's, but what should we be looking for from a crane driver and also a banksman in the realms of training they have undertaken and similar with the banksman.
Thanks for your input, all greatfully received

Posted By A Campbell Doesn't crane operations now require an appointed person for planning, supervising etc?

Posted By laugar Hi your crane operator will need to have CPCS Card for that type of plant and your banksman will need slinger /signaler CPSC CARD, along with this you will need an appointed person to take overall charge and draw up lift plans /risk assessments and method statement's ans a copy of BS7121 The plant it self should have 12 monthly thorough examination 6 months if lifting people and all lifting equipment has to have thorough examination / a register of lifting equipment is required to be kept and a weekly checks on the crane hope this will help
