Posted By SWS Raj Hi If I have read your message correctly, to become a "certifier" as in an awarding body i.e. BSi, your company has to be registered and certified through UKAS and as far as I am aware costs 10's of thousands of pounds. Regards Si

Posted By Peter F Try contacting IOSH or BSI they run courses. My belief is that once you have completed the lead auditor, you then progress to the advanced auditing skills course and from there you are audited whilst carrying out the audit. Don't know the costs though.

Posted By Swis “how I can become an OHSAS 18001 certifying / training authority” “Am already an OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor” Both statements don’t go together.

Posted By Peter F The lead auditor can only audit against the system. You have to qualify as a certifier to be able to issue the certificate.

Posted By Swis And to become an lead auditor one need to know all the systems and processes. How can one become a lead auditor without knowing how OHSAS 18001 works.

Posted By Safety officer I would say approach UKAS and ask them, but as someone has said it will cost thousands and the competition is fierce.

Posted By Ciaran McAleenan Hello Raj Point to note: In most countries, accreditation is a choice, not an obligation and the fact that a certification body is not accredited does not, by itself, mean that it is not a reputable organisation. If you are considering becoming accredited then it would be worth looking through the International Accreditation Forum’s website (http://www.iaf.nu/). From there you will find links back to whichever country you wish to be accredited in. Also worth looking at ISO website; http://www.iso.org/iso/i...nderstand_the_basics.htm Best wishes Ciaran
