Is there any legislation stating a requirement of minimum distance between the welding machine and the welding job in pile pipe welding(onshore). Is it unsafe if the welder keeps the machine as near as he can operate without moving from his work place?

the is no such legislation - again risk assess to ID if things are safe or not. sometimes all the welder can do is to have the jenny etc close to them
