Posted By Graham Bullough I enjoy wild high or deep places in the following ways: a) Walking/scrambling up mountains in the UK and abroad, including doing “via ferrata” type routes in the Dolomites and other parts of the Alps. b) Exploring/visiting abandoned mines and quarries in the UK, especially old slate workings. c) Nordic ski-touring in Norway with a pal for 9 days usually during March each year over remote snow-covered high plateau areas such as the Hardangervidda. However, though others might think otherwise, I don’t think these activities are significantly dangerous for various reasons. These include the application of relevant experience and knowledge, dynamic risk assessments and using/taking appropriate equipment – all so as to be able to deal with foreseeable adverse situations which may arise.
