Posted By Martin Taylor We have a risk of eye injury on site from use of solvent paints and wood dust. We do of course enforce eye protection but distribute the standard 2 x 500ml eye wash bottles strategically around the site. My question has arisen from a query from one of the site first aiders for the need for a 15 minute flush of the eye should this be required. In our first aid room we have a sink adn cold running water which can be used to irrigate the eye but this would be rather difficult due to the design of the sink. Are there any simple hose systems that can be coupled to the tap outlet to assist flushing the eye. I am minded to my old grans kitchen where they used to have plastic hoses fitted over the taps in a sort of premixer tap form but not sure if you can still buy this and even if it would be suitable. I know that we could a purpose built eyewash station in but we really don't have the extra room that this would require and the costs are significant considering the relative low risks on site thanks Martin
