Posted By riskybizz During a question and answer section of an NVQ3 in works supervision and management, i was asked this question: "what must an employer do if he employs 20 or more persons"? The answer was "employ a safety supervisor" I fail to identify any piece of legislation that requires this, although i'm told it could be from previous construction regs or the factories act. All opinions welcome.

Posted By Richard Altoft I know of no specific obligation to employ a safety advisor in law, good idea but that is not the same thing. Must employ competent persons and must manage etc R

Posted By Raymond Rapp Likewise I have never come across any law which states minimum or maximum number of workers for safety supervision. Anyway, it would depend on the circumstances and more importantly the level of risk inherent in the work.
