Posted By Gary Begg Hi guys - I`m scouting around for any pre-existing fixed ladder risk assessment models that anyone is using.
I`m led to believe there is one out there that is almost a 'matrix of considerations' rather than a blank risk assessment tool, which when completed will point to either needing additional fall arrest protection or not. Almost a 'pre-qualification' risk assessment if you like.
Just now I`m doing it on a case by case basis, but think the tool would give us more consistency and allow prioritisation of any ladders which could need additional protection.
Does this ring any bells with anyone or alternatively does anyone have anything better ?
Appreciate any help,
Gary

Posted By Dave Merchant INDG405 is about portable ladders, not fixed ones. There's no HSE guidance note for fixed ladders (best not to rock the boat, and all that), but WAHR still requires you to deal with them. One option is to compare the installation against the various standards (BS4211 and EN ISO 14122-4), but you need to know what you're doing as the standards don't take account of the specifics of the WAHR. You can have a free (and legal) copy of my HSW article via the below link: http://www.uvsar.com/dow...3-2008_Fixed_ladders.pdf(get it quick before this post is moderated)
