We use an electrical contractor for any major work on our site but he has advised our workshop team who build photo sets and maintain our showroom (trade only) that they should not be carrying out any electrical work, this includes fitting of plugs, changing light bulbs etc.
I consider our staff competent to do this work as they do themselves and I plan to contact our insurers for their take on it, any thoughts/advice from other forum members who have come across similar instances.

Thanks

I think your contractor is trying it on. I would be surprised if your workshop staff/caretakers or similar were not compete net to carry out simple task like replacing a plug, fuse or light bulb.

I for one don't go to my insurer for H&S advice - they are too risk averse.
