Posted By D. Hilton Hi all, Not really a Friday afternoon post but here goes. I have come across a situation where a refrigeration plant room (R717) has been classified as a (DSEAR) Non Hazardous Location by way of interpretation of the reference that electrical equipment need not conform to the requirements for hazardous areas as made within BS EN 387 Safety & Env requirements for Refrigerating Systems & Heat Pumps. Has anyone come across this interpretation before or has anyone an opinion as to the nature of this approach, bearing in mind the definition of potentially explosive atmosphere and that no such derogation appear to exit within EU Directives 1999/92 and 1994/9. Regards
