Rewarding Safety Performance - What do we reward

Posted By Richard Beevers Dear All, I'm looking for some ideas on rewarding group performance.
A client was giving out vouchers for every 100 days without a recordable incident. Unfortunately this was leading to some 'downgrading' of incidents to ensure all at the plant got their vouchers.
The site want to keep providing a group reward, but I'm struggling to think of an appropriate leading indicator.
Does anyone have any ideas or already use a particular indicator?
I'll also be recognising excellent safety suggestions, hazard reports, training completions at the same time.
Industry is power generation.
Thanks, Al.

Here are some examples of 'leading indicators' I've encourage stagnating clients to consider:
1. Designing feedback forms for recording data on observed behaviour
2. Designing visuals for communicating complex safety messages clearly e.g. about concepts of minimal materials handling, 'adaptive posture' and exerting minimal force
3. Designing occupational health surveillance forms for gatheirng data on symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders
4. Amending the Audit Sheet to improve recording of attention to identified hazards assoicated with cumulative traumas of musculoskeletal disorders, within the audit process
5. Providing constructive feedback on team leader behaviour
6. Improving the ergonomic design of interfaces of furniture, equipment and tools
