Posted By Ron Hunter I hate to say "it depends" but, er.........it depends! It depends on the nature and complexity of the task/activity,some of which (e.g. in a high volume production environment)might involve more complex ergonomic/ anthropometric issues? In a more general context, MH Assessment is only a specific risk area and the same principles of Risk Assessment apply. There are tools available (the MAC tools for example) and the qualified practitioner (NEBOSH Cert.) should be in a position to assess and make recommendations in the majority of circumstances?

Posted By john thos 147 i have attended a few manual handling courses over the years at various jobs.I Know the first one i attended was done by an accredditted trainer. The others i am not sure about What I noted was that they are all generally the same. i personnally have carried out MHO training over the last few years. I believe I have done it well and at the very least it was as good as i recieved (Personnally beleive it to be better) it has also stood up in regards to a couple of claims that we have had had. the thing that i did which i believe was of a great beenfit was to have a very comprehensive sign off sheet. I also carried out the physical side of manual handling on the shop floor where possible to get away from the cardbord box which i dont particularly like as it doesnt replicate real life.
