Posted By elizabell Would appreciate some advice from forum members as to whether it is appropriate for CP/SP to also manage other services such as maintenance helpdesk, complaints, CAD service and others? Thanks Eliza

Posted By Raymond Rapp Elizabell H&S practitioners often have to wear many hats, so I am not sure where you are coming from. Is time, knowledge or resources that you are questioning? Ray

Posted By elizabell I am coming from the angle where safety adviser's role is to provide independent advice (corporate)and surely will it not be a conflict of interest if the person also has to manage the maintenance (estates) as SP's role is also to monitor health and safety? Eliza

Posted By Raymond Rapp Yes, impartial advice is the cornerstone of a h&s practitioner's role. There are some occasions where this may cause a conflict. However, each situation can only be judged on its own individual circumstances. Some h&s practitioners do the role part-time and manage other duties including properties. In theory it should make those premises even safer, unless there are other conflicting issues that impinge, such as budgetary constraints. Still not clear in why you think the roles may conflict to be honest. Can you be more specific?
