Quick question.
In Scotland, are fire doors required to have mandatory signage affixed to them? I am sure I had the info somewhere (eye height on both sides, etc) but cannot seem to find it again.
Thanks, Bri

Yes is the answer, no different than the rest of the Uk buddy, in fact when you read the scottish version of the RRO it only differs slighty,

The signs are better fixed above the doors as they can be seen from further away. If you fix them to the door and the door is open the signs are no longer visible from some angles. Test it by viewing from different angles and distances and if needed as in some warehouse situations - place a larger sign dangling above and near to the exit with the correct indications.

I thought that he meant "fire doors keep shut" signs not directional,

Remember folks there are 2 types of "fire doors" ie fire retaining doors and fire exit doors. They can be one and the same! Or they can be completely separate entities!
One type of door has "fire door keep shut on" and the other has the "running man" and direction symbols on.

Brian, you should refer to BS5499-4 2000 Safety signs, including fire safety signs — Part 4: Code of practice for escape route signing, which details all the requirements for this including height and size etc.
The document does state that escape route signs shouldn't be fixed to doors or located where they may be obscured e.g. by opening doors.
It would be seen as best practice to utilise the "Fire Door - Keep Shut", "Automatic Fire Door - Keep Clear" etc signs.
You should also refer to the relevant Scottish Government guidance documnet for fire safety for the type of building it is. www.infoscotland.com/firelaw/
