Posted By omar I've just seen the new H&S Law Poster advertised on an external site which provides H&S briefings, training etc. for just under £20 incl. P&P & VAT! Please note that the poster is available on the HSE Books site for under £7.

Posted By Safety officer Also is there an actual 'legal' requirement to have it?

Posted By Mike DF No legal requirement to have it until 2014 and then only if the leaflet is not issued to staff

Posted By Heather Collins Graeme - you have missed the point the OP was making. He is simply pointing out that some less than scrupulous companies out there are selling the new poster now for three times the price that HSE Books are and also giving the impression that it is already a requirement to have it displayed. There was a very official looking mail shot a few months ago that was also mentioned on this forum to warn forum readers. As others have said - it won't be a legal requirement for several years yet.

Posted By Jay Joshi It is my understanding that the higher priced ones have a rigid PVC or similar backing, compared to the HSE's standard version costing £7.34 and HSE's semi-rigid version costing £11.75

Posted By graeme12345 Sorry Heather how could i have missed such an important point, the difference in moaning and pointing out! And I suppose you(because you are so committed and feel so strongly about H & S) notified your local trading standards about the company trying to sell their merchandise under an implication that the poster is required now, rather than 2014, in an attempt to at least try and reduce the amount of criminality(for that is what it is), tree huggers, do gooders, political correctness, nanny state whatever you want to call it (for that is what they are)that pervades and strides around this country at will. It seems its a crime to upset 1 person let alone a few,to disagree with the majority, or even speak your mind. There is nothing wrong in this thread but I've no doubt it will be removed because I am simply responding to your thread concerning me in a particular way that someone thinks "whoa hold on a minute do i detect free speech gotta get rid of that" Did any others responding to this thread make any comments when the consultation process was being carried out? Come on IOSH let us know how many members did?

Posted By Bob Shillabeer Please stop giving the wrong impression on the new posters. They are legally required to be displayed now and not in the future. The law allows you to continue to display the old poster provided it is up to date with the correct information, readable and in good condition. If it does not meet the full limits of what is acceptable the new poster must be displayed. You can issue individual notrices but how do you manage temporary staff, contractors and visiting workers such as electricians. Best solution is to buy the new posters now and display them therfore compliant with the law. No probs.

Posted By nigelhammond I like the new poster - much more appealing than that bland boring old one. The leaflet is a bit more bland though. I'm encouraging our managers to purchase it now rather than saving £10 and having a rubbish old boring brown poster with ugly font and no pictures on their wall. Coming back to the original post about the unscrupulous sellers. Many thanks for the warning.

Posted By Jay Joshi I would be a bit careful about referring to some of the suppliers as unscrupulous. If you refer to the following links, it is evident that there is a huge range in types, i.e quality. The HSE do a standard and a semi rigid versions whereas the more "expensive" ones are either with a self-adhesive backing or a rigid PVC backing. Nobody is being forced to buy the more expensive versions. http://www.safetyshop.co...rkvI_ypZsCFaAA4wodaEjkBw

Posted By omar You are absolutely right, Jay. The expensive one I saw, however, was the encapsulated version, which is on sale at HSE Books for £6.38
