Posted By John G Hi I recall 20 plus years ago a machine guarding guidance book I think may have had a reference F5308 or something similar. It provided information on a large number of industrial machines and guarding. Does any one know if it has been updated if it has what is is current title and reference. If not is it possible to track a copy down of the original book.

Posted By Stuff4blokes John I suspect you mean BS5304:1988 which was the old BS Code of Practice for Safety of Machinery. My copy stays firmly with me I'm afraid! It has been twice superceded by BS EN ISO 12100 (Safety of machinery - Basic concepts, general principle for design), previously BS EN 292, plus a whole host of others too numerous to list here. You may find an old copy being offered for sale on a website or perhaps your local library could source one for you for reference purposes. You could also try "Safety With Machinery" by Ridley and Pearce published by Butterworth Heinemann ISBN-13:978-0-7506-6780-7. Mine is a 2nd edition from 2006.
