Posted By Mian M. Rizwan It's a silly question but I have to come up with the answer with help from you guys. Is there any set-standard for dimensions of hard barricades we generally use around trenches, excavations etc.? How high and how wide should they be? Please share your knowledge. Regards

Posted By Bob Youel There are no specific legal sizes - All areas should be managed via your risk assessment as is referenced in Chapter '8'

Posted By Roly Buss Mian There are standards laid down in the Code of Practice which are: Portable pedestrian barriers, which may include mesh, should be reasonably rigid, designed to resist being blown over by the wind or passing traffic, and have: a handrail fixed at between 1 metre and 1.2 metres above ground level, which should be reasonably smooth and rigid to guide pedestrians and give them some measure of support; and a visibility panel of at least 150mm deep which may be integral with the handrail or, if separate, must be fixed so that its upper edge is a minimum of 0.9 metres above ground level. a tapping rail (or equivalent reasonably rigid area if the barrier is a vertically continuous one) of minimum depth of 150mm with a lower edge at ground level or set at up to 200 mm above ground level.
