In GB from 1st Oct 09, changes to the 4-day and 2-day first aid at work courses will come into effect. These will be replaced by:
3-day full first aid at work (FAW)
1-day emergency first aider at work (EFAW)

Does this apply to Northern Ireland also?

The first aid at work requirements for Northern Ireland are set by EMAS (Employment Medical Advisory Service). Usually they will adopt the guidance/regulation form the UK mainland within about 18 months. For further information you can email them direct on emasmail@detini.gov.uk
