This may not be a well know fact amongst those Companies who operate vans over 2 tonnes MLW but,we have had one of our van drivers issued with a penalty notice for driving at 70 mph on dual carriageway, although the drivers have been told about the speed restriction before and it is documented in the drivers handbook.
For those not aware, speed limits for vehicles over 2020Kg MLW are 50 Mph single road, 60 Mph dual carriageway, 70 Mph Motorway. Thought you may want to issue a reminder to your drivers?

The problem is that many van drivers do not know the MLW, or MAM of the van they are driving. They do not know where the manufacturer's plate is, nor what it means. This is a training issue for the fleet operator.
As an example the popular Ford Transit Connect van has a MAM of 2040Kgs, so the lower limits apply. Many drivers assume they can drive at the same limits as for a car...
