Our insurers want to increase the frequency of their inspections of our climbing wall from annual to 6-monthly. I have searched the British Mountaineering Council website and info from various climbing wall manufacturers, but can only find reference to annual inspections. We are a College. The wall is made of bolt-ons to a flat wall. It is not heavily used.
If you have a climbing wall, how often does yours get inspected?
thanks!

The argument would be that the anchors are dual-use (fall arrest and work positioning) and so are covered by LOLER, which by default requires a 6-monthly inspection interval for any accessory used to lift a human. You could try and use a written exam scheme to push it beyond 6 months but I'd counsel very strongly against it, given people are only using one point of attachment. I know wall bolts are reliable, but your insurer doesn't care - they only see the consequences of failure as unacceptable.
