Posted By A Campbell http://www.telegraph.co....-and-safety-reasons.html Although the council appear now to be 'back peddling'... I have reservations that a risk assessment was initially carried out remotely... possibly via a conversation? Would there be so many constraints to allow a little time to our retired genteel folk these days.... It;s a sad world we live in today!

Posted By Swis To be honest, I can't see anything wrong in banning coffee in the library. Reasoning may be wrong but I would never allow having coffee etc in my own library. Libraries are there for a particular reason, you should find a cafe for a cup of coffee/tea.

Posted By paulw71 So by that rationale books should be banned in cafes.

Posted By Swis coffee damages books - books don't damage coffee. LOL on a serious note - I can't see any logic in having a coffee party at the library. Conversations come with the coffee and there will be people who might be puting their head dwon on the books. So lots of distraction. On the other hand, someone studying in a cafe would not affect people from enjoying their coffee or discussion on elf'n'safety. Again, it's the wrong reasonings to blame for not banning the coffee club from library.

Posted By martinw Come on Paul, live a little: get some Mocha down your neck and feel the Arabica coursing through your veins. Can't do anything about it in a library though because you'd be shushed.

Posted By Swis Paul, on a lighter note. what don't you understand? putting head down or book? A 'book' is a set of written, printed, or blank pages fastened along one side and encased between protective covers. If you haven't seen any, let me know i'll send you a picture of one. Apologies in advance. Swis

Posted By paulw71 No its just the concept of it that I dont understand. If you want to put your head on something then surely a pillow or cushion would be better suited to the task. I would be intrigued to attend a coffee party though, Just to have my suspicions about the attendees confirmed. Please forward me an invite to your next meeting. Im sure the rest of the patients wouldnt mind.

Posted By A Campbell If it's a way to get people together to discuss books etc (e.g. book club) and general social events... then why not?
