Posted By Stephen.Jones Hi All, I have been asked to look at Fire Safety within the NHS as a project (For a local hospital) and wondered if anyone has had good / bad / concerns or experiences for fire safety within the health care industry. All comments / opinions would be gratefully received. Thanks

Posted By Bill Elliott Stephen Wow! - thats some huge project - are you able to be a little more specific about what it is you are hoping to achieve. There are a whole range of NHS Fire related documents, which if you are in the NHS may be available to you at no cost, these documents set out Fire Safety requirements in the NHS.

Posted By Messy Shaw Stephen I work for a number of Trusts and see that some have a more professional attitude towards fire than others. My fear is that with the talk of huge public spending cuts in the next few years, cuts in FS provision will be seen as an easy way to trim the already tight budget. With 5 serious fires in recent months in London alone which all required significant, even full evacuations, this is not the time to make these cuts. (Northwick Park transformer in basement/Royal Marsden plant room fire/Camlet Mental Health Unit in Enfield arson/Great Ormond Street fire & explosion in ward/ and last week's fire in Mayday Hospital's MRI unit) I could write a book on my observations, so if you could be a bit more specific I might be able to help (although I a a little restricted by customer confidentiality as you would expect)
